About us

Two decades in this industry,on every side of it.

Porter Lake was founded by Mike Leddy and Chip Wiggins. Between them they have hung the blinds, sold them over a counter, run the installation crews and built the product. That is the whole reason the dealer program works the way it does.

Mike Leddy

Mike Leddy

Co-founder

Second generation in window coverings. Mike spent his teens on job sites with installers, then started out as a subcontracted installer himself. He built that into a 20-person operation covering Florida's west coast, fitting nearly every product and brand on the market and recording what worked and what caused return trips. That data became Porter Lake.

Chip Wiggins

Chip Wiggins

Co-founder

Chip started in window covering sales with a national franchise in Memphis, and left because the model could not offer enough product to win the market. He opened his own dealership, worked with vendors, manufacturers and local fabricators until he knew the supply chain inside out, then built his own shutter fabrication facility alongside the retail business.

The journey

Two routes to the same conclusion.

Mike came up through installation, Chip through retail and manufacturing. They met in the middle.

Why we started Porter Lake

We had the data on what actually goes wrong.

Thousands of jobs and hundreds of products left us with a clear picture: which components lasted, which fabrics moved off the shelf, and where manufacturers were charging premium prices for sub-par product and a worse dealer experience.

We had also watched too many dealers let down by their suppliers. So we built a program that supplies good product and then looks after the dealer: pain points automated away, and support from people who have hit these problems on a job site rather than read about them on a spec sheet.

Today we supply trade partners, retail dealers and volume partners in over 30 states. We are deliberate about how fast we grow, so there is always the logistics capacity and the staff to treat every dealer like they are the only one.

The supply network

Sourced worldwide to supply only the best products.

Porter Lake works directly with the highest quality mills and component manufacturers, choosing each one for what it does best rather than buying a whole catalog from a single source.
